Family Life Education
The Family and Child Development (FLE) major is the study of the
development of children and their families from the prenatal stage throughout
the lifespan. The study focuses on interpersonal relationships and developmental
tasks of all family members. The Family and Child Development academic program
includes coursework on developmentally appropriate settings for children,
guidance and discipline of young children, parent education, intervention
strategies for working with families and their children, and societal issues
affecting today's family.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
A graduate with a bachelor's of science in family and child development
is prepared for a career in parent education, early interventions, child care
administration, teaching in programs for infants to school-age children, and
social services in child and family programs.
