The Department of Professional Teacher Education sponsors two student organizations in the College of Education. Kappa Delta Pi, an international education honorary society for education majors in all programs is a community of scholars pledged to worthy ideals such as: Recognizing scholarship and excellence in education; promoting the development and dissemination of worthy educational ideas and practices; enhancing the continuous growth and leadership of its diverse membership; fostering inquiry and reflection on significant educational issues; and maintaining a high degree of professional fellowship. In the UCO Kappa Delta Pi chapter, Gamma Omega, undergraduate selection is based upon a 3.25 or better grade point average, completion of at least 50 hours of coursework and completion of at least 12 hours of education courses. Graduate students must have an overall grade point average of at least 3.5 and completion of at least 12 hours. Membership selection occurs in the fall and spring with invitations issued to eligible candidates. Student Oklahoma Education Association is an organization open to all students who wish to affiliate with a professional organization in education and is affiliated with the National Education Association. Membership is open to education students throughout the academic year, fall and spring with dues paid annually. Membership includes liability insurance, a professional publication, and state conferences. In addition, the UCO chapter sponsors academic seminars and community projects.
