Welcome!

The College of Education's Faculty Designated Computer (FDC) Lab is a resource for college faculty, staff, and graduate/student assistants. (Due to its small size and funding source, this lab is not open to students.)

The FDC Lab, located in EDU 211, is intended to be a centralized location for College of Education and Professional Studies faculty (including adjuncts) and staff to work on special projects with software and equipment that is perhaps not available to them in their departmental offices. Or faculty and staff may also just come by and check their email (Internet access to Lotus Notes only) or perhaps get some online research done between classes. For greater convenience, the FDC Lab opens early and closes late during regular semesters. Please check here for the FDC Lab’s current hours of operation.

While the FDC Lab's six unique workstations are generally “first come, first served,” if users wish to reserve a particular workstation for a specific day and time, an appointment may be made in advance. To promote fair use, we ask that reserved times do not exceed three hours. To schedule, contact Rod Edwards.

Student assistants will do their best to support FDC Lab users, but extended assistance cannot be guaranteed at all times. For best results, novice users requiring in-depth assistance with any of the resources available in the FDC Lab should make an appointment in advance with Rod Edwards.

Resources available include six Windows-based computer workstations running a wide variety of software applications. A printer is available for black & white laser printing. (Please note there is no copy machine available in this room!) A flatbed scanner is available for digitizing copyright-free graphics and/or scanning copyright-free text using optical character recognition software ("OCR"). Portable multimedia equipment (including a digital camcorder and a multimedia projector) is also available on a limited basis.

Please see Resources for additional details.
