Educational Concerns

  • Disruptive noises and game playing during class - can be disabled
  • The potential loss or theft of the handheld computers - similar to loss or theft of other technology

  • Tnfrared capabilities allow students to beam notes to one another and could contribute to cheating - beaming can be disabled and some students will always find a way to cheat.
  • The security of student and faculty information over wireless networks - developers are constantly designing new and more secure hardware and software.
  • Issues with sometimes-complex usability and difficulty mastering handwriting recognition software - can be    addressed with proper training.
