The Instructional Media program
embodies the requirements for a master of education and the courses
specified by the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation and the Oklahoma State
Department of Education to receive PK-12 school library media specialist standard, advanced
certification. While many of the courses are the same as those taken by future public,
academic, and special librarians, the focus of this program option is the
school library media
specialist.
The Applied Technology option
of the Instructional Media program is still available, but courses will only
be offered when enrollment numbers can be reached for a cohort group.
Call 974-5886 for additional information on the applied technology option.
Course prefixes are identified as, and the program is referred to as
Instructional Media Education (IME).
UCOs Instructional Media program serves a unique need - we specialize in preparing
school library media
specialists and all course assignments and projects will emphasize the
school setting.
Our students represent a broad geographic clientele, and UCO is preparing a
large portion of Oklahomas school library media specialist personnel for this high
demand, low supply, advanced certification area. Much of the
coursework for the program is currently available either totally or partially
at a distance, and our goal is to have the Library Information option
available totally at a distance in the near future.
